About The Book

Kitab al-Adhkar is the definitive compilation of words of  remembrance and glorification of (dhikr), and supplicatory prayer to (du’a), the Lord of the Universe, as related from His final Emissary, the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless and exalt him).

Dhikr and du’a lie at the very heart of the din, the relationship between creature and Creator. As part of the Sunna or Prophetic Way, they are a divinely appointed means of approaching Allah Most High for all our needs, and of making use of all the moments of daily life to strengthen our tawhid, the existential and cognitive Unity that is the hallmark of Muslim spirituality. Also covered are the vital principles of speaking only what is good and avoiding the sins of the tongue.

About The Author

Muhy al-Din Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi (631-676/123-1277) devoted his entire life to the pursuit of sacred knowledge. He is revered throughout the Sunni world as one of its greatest authorities. Among his most famous writings are the Arba’in, a collection of forty Hadiths; a commentary on the Sahih of Imam Muslim; and Kitab al-Adhkar.

Designed as a reference guide and a source of inspiration, this  volume presents a clear and elegant English translation of Imam al-Nawawis classic, together with the text of every single prayer and invocation, both in Arabic letters  and in romanisation. Also included are all the authors statements about those Hadiths which he related personally from his own teachers, and his guidance on the correct spelling and meanings of rare words and names. Finally, al-Nawawis comments on the sources of Hadiths are supplemented by further scholarly notes.

Imam Nawawi died at the young age of 44 years, leaving behind him numerous works of great efforts and knowledge.

Imam Nawawi is well know for books which are easy to understand.

About The Book

Du’as Set in the Form of Hizb-ul-Azam (A Selection for Each Day of the Week).

Du’a (supplication) is the essence of worship. It is the weapon of the believer. With it we can never fail; without it we can never succeed.

It is a whispering conversation with Allah, the most uplifting, liberating, empowering, and transforming conversation one can ever have.

This book contains more than 200 du’as from the Qur’an and Hadith in Arabic for daily reading, along with their transliteration, translation, and commentary in English.

The commentary explains historic background, meanings, merits, and special significance of the du’a in question.

This selection was originally compiled by Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi under the title Munajaat-e-Maqbul. Like his Bihishti Zewar (Heavenly Ornaments), it has been very popular in the countries of the Indian subcontinent, where it has become a household name.

This edition aims at making it accessible to the English-speaking world.

About Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi

Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi (1280-1362 AH/1863-1943 CE), commonly referred to as Hakim al-Ummat (“Sage of the Ummah”), was a giant among the Islamic scholars of the twentieth century.

He was a master in all branches of Islamic scholarship including Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh and Tasawwuf. A prolific writer, he had more than a thousand publications to his credit. He wrote for the minimally literate as effectively as he did for scholars.

Nearly a century later some of his books remain as popular as they were when originally published. Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani writes, “The likeness of his accomplishments is not found in many preceding centuries.”
